Rav David Daniel Hacohen שליט״א

Summary

The Rav starts from the Rambam's laws of chametz and matza: on the night of Pesach there are two Torah commandments, telling the story of the Exodus and eating matza, which must be handmade and made with intention. He explains that each person must feel as if he himself were a slave and is now leaving Egypt, since we are slaves whenever we follow the evil inclination. Citing the Orach Chaim Hakadosh, he says Israel sank to the forty-ninth level of impurity before being redeemed, and that after the giving of the Torah even the wicked son can come back. The Haggadah answers the Rasha not by arguing with him but by welcoming him, and the Rav reads the word Makom in this light. Pesach is a personal redemption, a great light that must be kept by work during the Omer until Shavuot.
