Parashat Beha'alotecha 5769 in English
Rav David Daniel Hacohen שליט״א
Résumé
The Rav studies the end of Parashat Beha'alotecha, where Aaron and Miriam speak against Moshe Rabbeinu over the "Cushite woman". He first gives Rashi's explanation: Miriam learned from Tzipporah that Moshe had separated from her, and did not grasp that his prophecy came suddenly, without time to prepare. He then presents the Arizal's explanation, based on a Midrash: in his years in Africa Moshe became king of Kush and married its queen, but never lived with her, so as not to bring another Amalek into the world, as happened with Timna and Eliphaz. The Rav explains that Moshe could not enter Eretz Israel because he is too high for it, and that the building of Israel raises the land. He concludes by saying that, in his view, the nations that oppose building in the Land are trying to delay the coming of the Mashiach.
