Dévarim 5769 - Shabbat 'Hazon
Rav David Daniel Hacohen שליט״א
Résumé
For Shabbat 'Hazon, the Shabbat before Tisha B'Av, the Rav explains why Moshe opens Devarim by recalling the journeys of the desert and the mistakes made there: the complaints about food and water and listening to the wrong voices. He says that the people must remember these mistakes in order not to repeat them, and that this is also the way to repair what led to the destruction of the Temple. The Rav compares the Torah to an address or email in which a single wrong character prevents delivery, to show that every detail of the Torah must be kept. He relates the coming weeks of consolation and Rosh Hashana to this effort, and calls on everyone to take part in building the third Temple by strengthening Torah study and thinking of others.
